We are a community arts and heritage project, dedicated to retelling the stories of the women and men who campaigned for the right for a female vote.
Before 1918 most women were not able to vote, so across the country campaigners fought for change.
Doncaster played an important part in the national ‘Votes for Women’ movement.
Famous suffragettes, such as the Pankhursts, came here and addressed crowds of hundreds. Local women were then inspired to become suffragettes. But 100 years later, their names and deeds are largely forgotten.
This project will explore, celebrate and share their stories.
